I’m Alive!

And just to prove it, this is an awful picture of me Sunday morning. Allie and I teach Sunday School and we took photo booth pictures of the kiddos for a prayer wall! They loved it….I was so tired I hardly knew what was happening πŸ˜›

Allie and me

I haven’t had internet for weeks! It has been literally awful. May or may not have something to do with the fact that we “borrow” our internet from a neighbor….shhhh! Anyway, I have been DYING for some time to parooze the interwebs finest, catch up on blogs, tell you all about my life happenings and just be amused by it’s greatness.

Please don’t get mad if I just flood posts about anything and everything. πŸ™‚ The sun is shining, classes are in full swing, weddings are upcoming. I’ve got a fancy new, vintage camera! Minolta to be exact. My second of the brand, I’m excited to see how she works! It would be awesome if I could do nothing but go out and take pictures of things with the 23987 cameras I have. Today should be one of those days, but a nap beckons…

Just wanted to say a big hallelujah, I’m BACK! πŸ˜€ I hope your weekend was wonderful ❀

I’m totally digging acoustic right now. And this song is just incredible. I would never expect that voice out of him!

Bloomington Bound

Hello, hello! πŸ™‚

I only get to visit the glorious town I was raised in about 3-4 times a year, and these next few days are my first trip back since…Christmas?! The one night trip down with a bunch of people to Macri’s does not count! Let’s do some math (you probably don’t, but I love math!)…I live in Lafayette, I was raised in Ellettsville/Bloomington. That’s a solid two hour drive. Why don’t I go home more, you ask?! Because I’m broke. And my job sucks the life out of you (seriously, sometimes I feel like a zombie). Basically I just don’t have the time between school, work and church. Nor do I have the funds…40$ didn’t even fill my tank! And I wasn’t on E!Β

Anyway. I am so, so excited! Plenty of pictures and things to post about πŸ˜€ Mainly, I’m the most excited to see these two faces:

Reese

Reese Phoenix Hunter

Zaylee

Zaylee Orion Hunter

These are my nieces, 5 and 1 respectively. Aren’t they just the cutest little things?? I can’t wait to tell you all about my adventures!

In the mean time- Jam out to some tuneage.

A Vintage Weekend- Cont’d

I’ve read for blogs you need to set a regular schedule to posts. I’ll get to that eventually as I start working all the kinks out, but it seems I have a knack for blogging really late at night…on my balcony. Hope that’s cool πŸ˜‰

Let’s get to it! Saturday was yet another day spent downtown (I’m obsessed). Only this time it was all about antique shops, boutiques and Mosey (a small festival in the summer with booths and other fun things to do). Kacie is a very go with the flow girl, as well. And she’s from Michigan! Fun fact.

The first store we stopped off in had a small rack of clothes outside which instantly attracted us. Turns out their downstairs is a consignment/thrifty shop and upstairs is a hair studio! Very cool people. This is Kacie being ‘whimsical…’ haha! Although this vintage dress was adorable, we found the one! She ended up buying:

She’s digging pastels and couldn’t pass it up. Who could blame her?! I wound up with a vintage shirt… black yellow and white. It’s precious and I will be doing some fashion posts shortly πŸ™‚

Once we left, barricades were being set up for Mosey. I decided to park in a lot off Main St. so we would be able to leave without running anything over…and my car sure left without harming anyone. I was towed! We didn’t discover this until we were totally done with shopping and it definitely didn’t ruin the day. Luckily my mother swooped in to save the day financially. JP and Dacia drove us to the lot. πŸ™‚ But back to our thriftiness!

As we wondered, we found an amazing trunk (I was too excited and forgot to get a picture) and some chairs I would lurrrve to buy for 20/20. We are remodeling a hall in our church we frequently use and are in the process of completing a cafe corner.

They had a pair of these gorgeous chairs for only 80$! But I’m broke. So maybe in the near future. I have my laser eyes on them. Oh and that piano in the back? We may or may not have jammed out. But it’s out o’ tune. The entire time we had this adorable girl following us around. She let us know the prices to everything and started helping us negotiate with her dad. When I said I was taking pictures to put this on the internet she looked at me like I was insane! :p

Here are a few shots of other fun things we discovered:

I might not read many books, but I love the smell of bookstores with used books πŸ™‚ Is that weird?

The music at Mosey was definitely unique! All in all a wonderful weekend. Pictures of everything I purchased garage sale-ing/antiquing will have to come later…but be warned. I got some pretty bomb stuff!

Has anyone else started their garage sale adventures? It’s starting to be that time! My family has actually never had a yard sale (that I remember). They live far, far out. But it’s a favorite memory of mine. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

Get a little Mat Kearney up in huuurrr. Acoustic is always better. ❀

A Vintage Weekend

Happy Monday, everyone! I suppose it’s almost over…details, details.

This past weekend would probably rank in my top 5 all time favorite weekends. It was pure gold. Pat came to visit and I had a friend in town from Michigan! To top that off, we went antiquing/vintage clothes shopping. Every hipster girls dream on gorgeous almost summer, but not too hot, days. Since so much happened this weekend I’m going to break it up into two posts πŸ™‚ Starting with some Twin time.

I’m in love with downtown Lafayette, so I wanted to take him to McCord Candy Store. They have fountain sodas, home made candy, ice cream and of course food!

Just doing a little modeling

After, we stopped by Von’s on Purdue’s campus. There are 5 (I think) different rooms that make up the entire store. It’s definitely one of a kind and you can always find something in there! Recently they added clothes to their list. So I decided to do some light browsing, and Pat decided to sneak some photos.

Unfortunately, he started acting like it was a photo shoot and would either say crazy things in a weird voice or make noises…I caught him most of the time :p (But check out that blouse!! I need to write a fashion blog, stat!)

Von’s has all kinds of awesome knick-knacks. Pretty much anything you could need except groceries and gas. I feel like a walking ad right now. But it’s cool.

On the drive home we spotted a garage sale. One turned into about 5 or 6. We are very spontaneous people. I was like a giddy child in a candy store. I’ll show two of my favorite shots and hopefully at the end of post two have a couple pictures of actual purchases.

How cute is this guy?!

Eventually he had to go back to work for The Man 😦 But we had a blast πŸ™‚

I sent this one to my mother on Mother’s Day:

What are some of your favorite places to visit in your hometown? If you live in the area and haven’t been to either place mentioned, plan a trip soon! Or just go on a whim πŸ™‚

[By the way, I took a wonderful 3.5 hour nap on Sunday afternoon. It’s been a while. Am I the only one who naps this long?]
I’m seriously digging this Jesus tune right now. So soulful.Β

Five Facts About The Woman Who Raised Me.

Happy Mother’s Day! πŸ™‚ Let me just take a moment to give you some fun facts about my mother.

1. She’s been married to my daddy for…35 years? They’re adorable. And don’t tell me that’s not something to celebrate!
2. She’s been at the same job for longer than I’ve been alive. Thus instilling commitment and independence into who I am today through watching her. (Retire soon, goof!)
3. She’s the baby of the family, just like me! One brother and one sister. We’re a very close family.
4. Β She knows how to break it down, hip hop style.
5. Β Her ideal place to live is on a lake. She loathes the hot-ness of Florida as much as I do!

Flash back to my senior prom!

If you don’t know her already, get to know her. She is pretty awesome. All of my brother and my’s friends consider her to be their second mom. I love you, momma! πŸ˜€

Quick shout out to my sister-in-law, Nikki. She’s the proud mother to my precious nieces, Reese and Zaylee.

Don’t tell me those aren’t the cutest kiddos!

Song time! Hope you likey πŸ™‚

Internet!

I just want everyone to know I made my very first tumblr, thanks to Kacie! The more things I can put pictures and words on the better. If you have one, go follow me! And if you don’t, make one, then follow me and I’ll do the same πŸ™‚

Also, this weekend has been action packed. It will take more than one post to tell you about it. But you will die when you see the things I have accumulated! πŸ˜€

Check this cover out! :))Β These girls are amazing. Enjoy your Mother’s Day!

The Aftermath.

Hellooooo!

I’ve got an event coming up that is going to be bitter-sweet. Well…not bitter really. More sad-sweet if that’s a phrase. It’s been almost one year since my best friend, Chase, passed away. His passing changed the course of an entire ministry called 20/20 students. I’m so blessed to be apart of the staff! Not to brag, but the people apart of 20/20 are pretty bomb-diggity.

We have an amazing team dedicated to making this event special and I can’t stress enough how infredible it will be.

Boom. Be there. Or watch online through a live stream. Yes, it’s a night to remember him, but it’s also a night to worship God. ‘Cause he’s da bomb.

Casie Tharp- Senior Session

Thursday the 26th I had the opportunity to do my very first Senior Session! Casie is a sweetheart of a high school senior and in my church youth group. πŸ™‚ Her session wasn’t entirely planned out very well, nor did it go exactly as I saw it. But we got some amazing photos and I believe we will be doing another soon (so stay tuned)! Here are a few of my favorite shots:

The “TS” was birthed out of it being 1:30 a.m. and Britts and I thought it would be hilarious to have Tiger Snooze as a water mark. That’s how much I love naps, folks. But isn’t she just adorable?! And so natural, it was fun! If you have any advice for posing, planning sessions, editing…etc., let me know! I’d love to hear your photo input πŸ™‚

All photos were edited on PicMonkey, thanks to Dacia for getting me hooked on all things internet. πŸ˜‰

Glitter! Glitter! Glitter!

If you don’t know, I LOVE glitter! I’d swim in it if I could. And of course I will slap it on anything I possibly can. This is a rather serious addiction, folks. But good news! I often find myself in a “craft or die” kinda mood. I’ve got a pair of black, classic high heels that need a serious makeover. I’ve got a couple good ideas that involve fabric flowers and buttons. But last Sunday I awoke from an awesome 3 hour nap and decided I want these shoes to have glitter on the bottom.

Now I just had to find all the necessary items in mind. But first, let me paint you a picture…

It’s a beautiful summer day. You’re out in the country somewhere. In front of you stands a gorgeous two story home. White, with red shutters. A porch with a swing. Flowers all along the pathway leading up to the door. The house sits on a small hill and you can see land and blue skies for miles around you. Now, imagine what this house looks like after being hit by say…a tornado. Picture the mounds, feet and piles of rubble. Change the house debris to clothes and shoes. Skirts, dresses, tops, cardigans, tank tops, flats, hats, purses, hangers…you get the idea. Condense this giant mess into a 10X11′ area with four white walls. Add a dresser, a loft (because there are two of us living in this space), a piano and other room items. You are now currently standing in my room. At it’s worst the clothes narrowly reached my knees. Yikes! Don’t worry all you clean-freaks, we’re working on it! πŸ˜‰
(Nothing with breath was harmed in the making of this imagination)Β

As you can see, it’s almost impossible to find anything you need. I dug around for about five minutes and came out victorious! It might be a mess but it’s fairly organized. With Mod Podge, heels, glitter and brush in hand I got to work on the dining room table.

We already had some tissue paper out so I used that to contain my mess and I found a blue Solo cup in our cabinet. Now let’s get to the deets!

1. Mix a good amount of glitter with some ModPodge in a plastic cup. I wish I could give you some measurements, but I’m not that concise. I wasn’t sure how much I would need so I dumped all of my glitter (which was just about the size of one of these). Add the MP accordingly. Make sure you can mix in all your glitter and neither of them be too over bearing. (I used a sponge brush, Walmart- craft aisle) Looks a little something like this:

Glitter/ModPodge mix

2. Clean your shoes. Lord knows I don’t actually clean my shoes to maintain them. But, I felt it best to get as much dirt and junk off the bottom I could. Pretty self explanatory.

Yucky!

3. Start Painting. I painted on a layer, waited about 3-5 minutes, painted another…etc. In total I did 4 layers. It won’t start out totally even, but I did the best I could. Don’t forget the MP will dry clear and your glitter will be all you can see. I kept having to remind myself it won’t stay white :p

About 2 or 3 coats

Once I was done with the glitter mix they sat for about 24 hours. I usually start a craft when I have other things to get done. If you’re doing this all at once I’d wait about 10 minutes. I then added 2 coats of just MP for a nice seal. I suggest waiting a couple hours after this before you wear them so all the layers can harden.

Final product! Ain't they perdy?!!

I just love them ❀ What color would you add to spice up your shoes?! Let me know what you think! πŸ™‚

The Awesomesauce Song of the Post comes from being tweeted by one of my favorite YouTube artists, Gabe Bondoc! Spark’s Fly (Rainstorm’s Perspective) Enjoy! πŸ™‚

Love.

Good News!

First. I will never be able to explain why I only post once in a blue moon. But maybe these new little discoveries will change that πŸ™‚

1. For Christmas I was gifted a Canon Rebel. In all it’s beautiful, glorious, majestic Β charm.

See how perdy it is!

2. I’ve started Shatter Photography with my dear friend Ashley! You can see some pictures we did here. But there will be so many more coming!! So far there are two senior sessions, a wedding and an actual engagement session for the happy couple in the said post. πŸ™‚

Princess Rajniganda, isn't she a cutie?! No edits on this one

3. Posting about what you love is a MUST. And my future career is in human medicine. You know, nerdy science stuff. And I will admit I do love it. But I’ve got hobbies, too, yanno! So why not make it about these things on the side that can always lift up my spirits? I feel like there is some blog-o-sphere written rule book that says you need one or two topics and that’s what you stick to. Maybe that doesn’t even exist? Either way sometimes I go shopping for crazy clothes on a college kid budget and put together crazy outfits, other times I get a crazy bone and do a DIY project, I plan and play music for church and of course taking pictures. So why can’t it be alllllll the things? Well it is now. And I’ve gotten better at organizing my time. πŸ˜‰ Let’s do diiissssss.

In celebration of all things wonderful; check out this video before you do anything else! Riiiight HERE!
